. . . a collaborative children’s oral health project that connects children with dentists. By engaging the medical community as an educational and timely referral resource, we help parents become aware that networks of dentists are available to provide ‘Dental Homes’ for their children. Although the primary mission of the Points of Light project is to promote the first dental visit by age 1, we also provide a database of participating dentists that accept Infants, Head Start students and Children with Special Health Care Needs (CSHCN).
This website serves our goal of improving children’s oral health in two ways. First, the ‘Professional Resources’ page provides educational materials to the medical and dental communities regarding the value of timely, coordinated, ongoing, accessible and comprehensive oral health care, and offers an opportunity for dentists and physicians to participate in the project. Second, the ‘Parent Resources’ page offers a zip code-driven search function that enables parents to locate dentists in their area that accept Infants, Head Start students and CSHCN.
